In an effort to get cap compliant, the Buffalo Bills have agreed to a renegotiated contract for veteran pass rusher Von Miller. ESPN’s Field Yates was first to report this news.
Miller’s base salary for the 2024 season was initially set to be $17.145 million. Now, his contract will have a base value of $8.855 million.
The good news for Miller is he’ll have a chance to make up to $20 million next season with incentives.
The Bills, on the other hand, will create over $8.6 million in cap space with this move. That’ll obviously help them get under the salary cap.
Miller, 34, signed with the Bills in 2022. He had 21 tackles and eight sacks before suffering a torn ACL on Thanksgiving.
Unfortunately for Miller, he was a shell of himself during the 2023 season. The two-time Super Bowl champion didn’t record a single sack in 12 games.
Perhaps this renegotiated deal with light a fire under Miller. The Bills would love nothing more than for him to turn back the clock this fall.
In addition to altering Miller’s contract this Wednesday, the Bills released All-Pro safety Jordan Poyer, veteran center Mitch Morse, former fifth-round pick Siran Neal, wide receiver/return specialist Deonte Harty and running back Nyheim Hines.
