Buffalo Bills defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier was named one of the recipients of the Paul “Dr. Z” Zimmerman award, which is given out by the Professional Football Writers of America (PFWA).
The award is presented to an NFL assistant coach for their lifetime achievement in the league. It’s named after Sports Illustrated reporter Paul Zimmerman, who started covering the NFL in 1966. Zimmerman worked for Sports Illustrated from 1979-2008.
Along with Frazier, late Jets coach Greg Knapp was also selected as a recipient.
The 2022 season will be Frazier’s 24th year as a coach in the NFL.
Frazier originally joined the Bills in 2017 as a member of Sean McDermott first coaching staff when he was hired in Buffalo. He’s also served as the Bills’ assistant head coach since 2020.
Last season, the Bills had the No. 1 defense in both yards and points allowed.
Previously from 2010 to 2013, Frazier was head coach of the Minnesota Vikings after first taking over in an interim role.
