Bills HC Sean McDermott announced that DT Ed Oliver underwent a meniscus clean-up after suffering a knee injury during the rehab process for his biceps injury, per Katherine Fitzgerald.
Fitzgerald writes that Oliver had a minimally invasive surgical procedure on his knee on Monday. It’s been a difficult year for Oliver, who was already on injured reserve after undergoing surgery on his torn left biceps in October.
McDermott did not have any clear information on Oliver’s potential return.
“It probably adds a little bit of cloudiness to his return window,” McDermott said. “So, I don’t have as much clarity on that return, but there’s still a chance that it’s somewhere where they initially forecasted it to be.”
McDermott previously left some hope that Oliver could at least return by the playoffs, but his recent injury casts a lot of doubt that he’ll appear again.
Oliver, 27, was selected by the Bills with the No. 9 overall pick out of Houston. He signed a four-year, $19,675,150 rookie contract that included a $12,329,200 signing bonus with the Bills.
The Bills picked up his fifth-year option last year, worth $10.753 million fully guaranteed for the 2023 season before signing him to a four-year, $68 million extension.
In 2025, Oliver appeared in three games for the Bills and recorded 12 total tackles, seven tackles for loss, three sacks and one forced fumble.
