BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The Bills appear to be reuniting with veteran defensive tackle Jordan Phillips.
The 32-year-old Phillips visited Buffalo on Sunday and is expected to sign with the Bills for the fourth time in eight seasons, according to multiple sources. NFL Network was first to report.
While it is unclear whether this will be a 53-man roster or practice squad signing, Phillips posted on Sunday an image of his Bills locker nameplate on social media.
Additionally, the Bills began trimming their roster before the 4 p.m. deadline to form an initial 53-man roster by releasing eight players on Sunday. The cuts included: cornerback Zy Alexander, defensive end Nelson Ceaser, defensive back Garnett Hollis Jr., offensive lineman Rush Reimer, tight end Matt Sokol, running back Elijah Young, and defensive back Tre Herndon. Wide receiver Grant DuBose was waived with an injury designation.
Phillips has appeared in 61 games with 19 starts in three different stints with the Bills over five seasons. Phillips first came the team in 2018 after starting his career as a second-round pick by the Dolphins. He rejoined the Bills at midseason in 2024, and appeared in seven games, compiling five tackles and one quarterback hit.
The Bills do have a bit of a roster logjam at defensive tackle, even with free agent signing Larry Ogunjobi suspended for the first six games. Beyond veteran starters Ed Oliver and Daquan Jones, the Bills have rookies T.J. Sanders and Deone Walker, as well as DeWayne Carter, a third-round pick in 2024.
On Monday the Bills released quarterback Mike White, according to reports, indicating that Mitchell Trubisky has won the backup QB job.
