ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WIVB) — Reigning NFL MVP Josh Allen collected another award to his sterling resume with a record-setting performance in the Buffalo Bills’ thrilling comeback win against the Baltimore Ravens in Sunday night’s season opener.
Allen was named AFC offensive player of the week for the 16th time, adding to his team record that also ranks as the most by any player in the NFL since Allen was drafted by the Bills in 2018.
A four-time player of the week in his MVP season, Allen kicked off 2025 by completing 72% of his passes for 394 yards with two touchdowns, while scrambling for another 30 yards and two rushing touchdowns that moved him past Thurman Thomas for Buffalo’s all-time record of 67 and counting. Allen’s third career game with more than 350 yards passing, two passing touchdowns and two rushing touchdowns are an NFL record.
Allen’s heroics in the fourth quarter, passing for 251 yards and running for two touchdowns, not only led the Bills back from down 15 points in the final five minutes to win 41-40 but set an NFL record. It was also the most yards by an NFL quarterback in the fourth quarter of a game over the past 29 seasons.
