BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – While Bills MVP quarterback Josh Allen and coach Sean McDermott spent the week coy and guarded about the details of Allen’s star-studded wedding with actor/singer Hailee Steinfeld — McDermott described the festivities as “what you would expect of a wedding” — Steinfeld was more forthcoming in the latest edition of her Beau Society newsletter.
“Got some hardware now,” Allen said at the team’s minicamp, referencing his wedding ring. He non-answered his way through the rest of wedding-adjacent inquiries, offering only a boyish smile that begged for the questions to turn to football.
Steinfeld, on the other hand, was willing to share, offering details on her dress, the cake, and other fun facts about their May 31 nuptials in Santa Barbara, California.
“No-phone wedding”
Steinfeld shared that their event was a “no-phone wedding” — which she strongly recommends.
“It was one of the best decisions we made,” Steinfeld wrote.
The dress & tux
Steinfeld said she wore a custom strapless Tamara Ralph gown that she had fitted in Paris immediately following the London premiere of her box office hit “Sinners.” She completed the look with a French Chantilly lace veil, Mikimoto earrings, and long, sheer gloves.
“On our wedding day, when I put on this dress, I actually lost my breath,” Steinfeld wrote. “I’ve never felt more like myself and more beautiful.”
Allen seemingly agreed. Steinfeld reports the MVP said she “stunned” him when she got to the altar.
Allen went for a classic look in black, wearing a custom Tom Ford tuxedo with a pleated shirt, black bowtie, cufflinks, black button covers, and a white pocket square.
“Josh looked like the man of every dream I’ve ever had,” Steinfeld wrote.
Cake & drinks
Steinfeld had high praise for their lemon olive oil cake with vanilla buttercream, which they cut with an engraved serving knife from Allen’s grandmother.
Meanwhile, the couple’s signature drinks were a “Brando Old Fashioned” and a “Teenie Tiny Margarita.” Steinfeld didn’t specify which drink was whose, but we think we can figure it out.
Other wedding details
- At one point in the reception, Steinfeld said Allen jumped on stage with the band and “had a rockstar moment quoting the infamous ‘I’m not leaving…I’m not f!#%ing leaving!’” scene from “The Wolf of Wall Street”.
- Steinfeld described their wedding dress code as “all-black black tie.” Their welcome party dress code was “vibrant elegance.”
- Instead of a bouquet, Steinfeld held a single crystal rose.
- The couple eschewed the tradition of not seeing each other on their wedding day. They had breakfast together just before 7 a.m.
- After I dos, they walked off to Stevie Wonder’s “Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I’m Yours)”.
- The wedding had a live band, and the after-party had a DJ, cigar bar, grilled cheese sandwiches, and chocolate chip cookies with shot glasses of milk.
Finally, Steinfeld writes: “The night ended at 3 a.m. with all our friends jumping in the pool in their dresses and tuxes. I didn’t jump in (I was wearing feathers), but I took photos, which I’ll share once I get our disposables back.” Stay tuned for those.
