BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Josaiah Stewart had a very productive college career getting after the quarterback. Stewart racked up 30 career sacks at Michigan and prior to that at Coastal Carolina.
“I sold off all my rushes with speed,” said Stewart. “That’s just the type of player I am and that keeps tackles on their toes. Once I’m throwing that fastball, you just got to play on your outside foot as hard as you can and run down the middle of them.”
The Wolverines edge rusher was a second team All-Big 10 selection in 2024. He led the team with 13 tackles for loss and 8.5 sacks.
Stewart is relentless coming off the edge which is something he believes will translate to success in the NFL.
“That’s my violence and my effort,” said Stewart. “I feel like pass rushers really win their rushes on their first move, right? So it’s just that second move, that third move, that tenacity just to keep getting to the quarterback.”
Stewart doesn’t have elite size so he studies some of the NFL players who are built to win with speed off the edge.
“My favorite player is always going to be Myles Garrett,” said Stewart. “He’s just
a freak, but I realize I’m not 6’4″ 250 pounds, so I can’t replicate everything he does. So guys like Von Miller, Hassan Redick, even guys like this past year, Nik Bonitto, a guy similar to my stature.”
Stewart is projected to be a 3rd or 4th round draft pick.
