BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Louisville’s Ashton Gillotte spent most of the college football career in the backfield of the opposing offenses and creating big plays for the Cardinals defense. Gillotte finished his four-year career with an eye-popping 41 tackles for loss to go along with 26.5 sacks.
The edge rusher’s explosive strength should translate nicely to the next level.
“I feel like power has been something that’s a good base for me,” Gillotte said. “If you watch a lot of NFL guys, power is what wins the majority of pass rushes. So obviously, mixing in a little bit of speed there will help me, but I think the power is probably the thing that translates the best.”
Gillotte didn’t just have one or two good seasons. His resume is lengthy and the team that calls his name on draft day is getting a player with loads of experience.
“Being a veteran player, I’ve played 50 games and started 41” Gillotte said. “That kind of experience is really all you can really ask for. At the end of the day, you can play well, you can practice well, but games are what’s going to give you all that experience. I think I’ve taken a lot of pride in the games I’ve played in and I think that that’s gotten me to where I’m at now.”
Gillotte is projected to be a third or fourth round draft pick.
