The Bills are attempting to fix one of their surprise misfortunes with a surprise signing. Buffalo signed former Jets offensive lineman Brian Winters on Monday. The move comes just a day after the Bills’ divisional foe released him.
Winters, 29, joins the Bills and is a name you’ll want to become familiar with pretty quickly. After a few happenings for both parties, Winters and the Bills could make a lot of sense going forward as he could find himself a new starting role in the AFC East in Buffalo.
With that, here are 11 things to know about the Bills’ new offensive lineman:

Where’s he fit?
In Winters, the Bills add a guy who could be a plug-and-play starter for the team. The prior referenced “misfortune” for the Bills was the loss of Jon Feliciano over the weekend. Without Feliciano, Buffalo loses their starting right guard from 2019 as he didn’t miss a single game a year ago.
But with Winters, the Bills get more of the same, in a sense. While the Jets’ offensive line did struggle a year ago, Winters, a 2013 third-round pick of the Jets, has started 79 of 89 games played in his career, including nine a season ago… at right guard. Plug-and-play. Essentially since being drafted, he’s been a staple on the Jets’ offensive line.
During his career, Winters has also been, you guessed it, versatile. While perhaps an easy fit at right guard, he could provide the Bills with an option that can play on the left side of the offensive line, and someone who’s also played center in his career. In college, he was an all-conference selection at… guard, center and tackle.
Prior to being released on Sunday, Winters was the longest-tenured member of Gang Green’s roster.
